OrbitSmith is a free space situational awareness toolkit operated by Seita Iizuka. We are committed to protecting your privacy. OrbitSmith does not collect, store, or transmit personal data to OrbitSmith-controlled servers.
OrbitSmith may request access to your device's location to predict visible satellite passes from your position. Your location data is processed entirely on your device and is never sent to OrbitSmith servers. Location coordinates may be stored locally on your device (via browser localStorage or iOS app local storage) solely to remember your preferred observation location. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings or by deleting the app.
OrbitSmith serves cached and derived orbital data products through our Cloudflare Worker API. Upstream orbital sources include Space-Track.org, CelesTrak, and GCAT, collected by server-side automation rather than by your browser. Some other resources are loaded directly by your browser from third-party providers, including imagery tiles (NASA EOSDIS GIBS, EOX / Copernicus, Esri / Maxar, CARTO) and city geocoding for pass predictions (Nominatim / OpenStreetMap). OrbitSmith does not add personal data to these requests, but the providers may receive standard web request metadata such as your IP address and user agent.
The OrbitSmith iOS app may send local push notifications to alert you about upcoming visible satellite passes. These notifications are generated entirely on your device using locally computed pass predictions. No notification data is sent to or processed by any external server.
OrbitSmith does not use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers, or any third-party tracking services. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any similar tools.
OrbitSmith uses the following third-party services depending on the page and layer you choose:
— Cloudflare Pages: Website hosting and CDN
— Cloudflare Workers: API for cached orbital data products
— NASA EOSDIS GIBS: Imagery tiles and science layers for the Imagery page
— EOX / Copernicus Sentinel-2: Cloudless Sentinel-2 annual mosaics
— Esri / Maxar: World Imagery basemap
— CARTO: Basemap and label tiles
— Nominatim (OpenStreetMap): City name geocoding for pass predictions
These services may process standard web request metadata (IP addresses, user agent strings) as part of their normal operation. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for details.
OrbitSmith does not sell or broker user data. When you use pages that load imagery, maps, or geocoding directly from third-party providers, standard request metadata is sent from your browser to those providers as part of normal web operation.
OrbitSmith does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. The service is designed to be safe for users of all ages.
