MISSION BRIEFING
SITETenzing Montes — educational Pluto rover exploration.
VEHICLEROVER — surface vehicle using the shared ground-control and waypoint contract.
DATABroad relief comes from the New Horizons LORRI/MVIC global DEM distributed by USGS (2017; Schenk et al. 2018) on a nominal 300 m grid. Values are metre elevations relative to a 1,188.3 km reference sphere. Stereo quality varies widely (USGS inventory: vertical accuracy about 100–800 m), so 300 m is a map grid, not the size of the smallest real feature; on smooth plains such as Sputnik Planitia, gentle bumps of a few hundred metres may be stereo noise rather than real relief and can push displayed slopes into CAUTION. The Lab stores strict area averages at 16 cells per degree (about 1.3 km at the equator); near the vehicle, the drawn mesh and the driving physics use the same triangles interpolated from them to 64 cells per degree (about 0.32 km), which adds no observation. Only about 46% of the raster has elevation values (mostly the hemisphere seen at closest approach); missing values stay unknown and stop driving.
SCENARIOPick one in MISSION OBJECTIVES — SURVEY ROUTE: visit survey points A→B→C in order · SAMPLE RETURN: collect both samples, then return to the start · HAZARD TRAVERSE: cross the rough terrain belt to the station · FREE DRIVE: no objectives, no scoring. The active goal also shows under the scenario selector.
OBJECTIVEReach the marked sites while managing slope risk and battery; a deterministic scorecard grades the run.

PLAN queues a hazard-aware route, AUTO drives it, REPORT opens the mission summary. Manual drive and tap-to-waypoint stay available at any time.

21 official features. Select a supported site or coordinate to explore; drag Pluto to rotate. Coloured areas have New Horizons topography; grey areas were imaged without topography; dark areas were not imaged. Three features are reference only.
Every destination uses the same continuous New Horizons-derived terrain; close detail and the fictional rover are synthetic educational layers.
